BEFORE THE HANG-“Art Family Values”

Knowing that we always wanted to do a series of shows that showcased artists that are related, we needed a thread to initiate a campaign. Despite the duality of the artist’s styles, there is a connectivity from shared experiences that display color, form and composition. This becomes a visual conversation between people who know each other in closer ways than the viewer. But with so many different artists for the 2026 lineup, the connecting throughline became Art Family Values…because visually pairing is artfully sharing.

MIND ITEMS

Even though self-described as “Fabrically Challenged”, somehow, I have been deemed “Laundry Maven” of our household. Working from a home office/studio is a balancing act of self-imposed deadlines for home and work. So, when ideas get stuck or laboring through art inventory or collaborating with the talent, it does help to have a different chore that focuses on simplicity. The familiar monotony of lather, rinse, repeat, dry and shake, smooth, fold, and then stow becomes a calming break.  These acts usually provide a spark for problem solving and efficiency because the ideation was unforced. But no matter the diligence of “Laundry Maven”, there is usually a Mount Everest of laundry the week of a show opening.
